Successful conclusion of the Erasmus+ project LOCAL Boosting Silver Economy through Local Community Mentoring

The LOCAL Consortium is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the Erasmus+project (KA2 Cooperation Partnership in Adult Education) LOCAL Boosting Silver Economy through Local Community Mentoring. This innovative initiative, co-funded by the European Commission, has made significant steps in empowering local communities to support and enhance the silver economy.

Nine partners coming from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania and Spain, joint their forces to address the challenges and opportunities associated with the aging population by developing, testing and validating up-skilling solutions tailored to education providers and senior people:

  • Role model videos showcasing outstanding lifepaths of adults over 50 in mentoring and entrepreneurship;
  • In-service Mentoring Programme to enhance mentoring skills for the promotion of Silver Economy and Senior Entrepreneurship;
  • Thematic Mentoring Cycles tailored to adults over 50 to raise awareness about entrepreneurship as a late-career option, combat ageism, reduce old-age unemployment and enhance social inclusion.

As final activity within the Consortium’s work plan, partners organised Multiplier Events to disseminate the LOCAL resources and promote active interaction with target groups, stakeholders and policy makers. These events encouraged exchange of ideas and insights, emphasizing the critical role of community mentoring in enhancing silver economy and entrepreneurship at local level.

The entire Consortium expresses gratitude for the collaborative efforts of associated partners, stakeholders, and people, like role models and participants in the piloting, who contributed to the success of LOCAL. This project has exemplified the strength of community-driven initiatives and the positive impact they can have on the lives of seniors. The Consortium is proud to have been part of this transformative journey and look forward to seeing the continued growth of the Silver Economy, Senior Entrepreneurship and Community Mentoring.
